Unprecedented Increase in Diagnosed Women is Creating an Extraordinary Need

Dorothy Gibbons with Breast Cancer Survivor Marisol

Over the past eight months, we have seen a 34% increase in the number of women we have diagnosed with breast cancer. Never in our 33-year history have we seen such a significant increase over such a short period of time!

By the end of our fiscal year on July 31, 2019, we predict that we will diagnose over 550 women, nearly 300 of them will be uninsured. Marisol was a college student and a single mom with no health insurance when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The first question she had wasn’t, “Will I survive this disease?” but instead, “How will I ever pay for treatment?” It was bone chilling to hear that treatment would cost thousands of dollars.

She knew there was no way she could handle the cost. That’s when The Rose stepped in and navigated her through treatment, leaving her with only a small out-of-pocket cost.

She still can’t recount this story without bursting into tears. “I believe The Rose saved my life,” she said. Marisol is now married and has four amazing kids, all the while championing a “14-year Breast Cancer Survivor” title.

Because of you and hundreds of others, we were able to tell Marisol and many others: “We’ll concentrate on finding you treatment. You concentrate on staying alive!”

At The Rose, we see women survive and thrive… women who would otherwise lose this battle, but didn’t. Your donation gives her a chance for a lifetime.

Thank you for caring.
